What are "My Followers"?
-
I recently moved my blog from .com to .org – now on the new blog my site stats (via jetpack) show 447 email subscribers. When I click on the link of email subscribers to view the list – at the top of the page it says Site Stats/My Followers/1654. What is the difference in numbers? And how are they being notified of new posts?
Thanks!

That appears to be an error in the total, possibly still counting the WordPress.com Reader subscribers from the WordPress.com blog. We’ll get it fixed up. You only have 447 subscribers at the moment.

Thank you! I thought that may be it – my wordpress.com is still up although it does redirect to the new site. Should I close that account? If so, what happens to all my links?
-
No, I don’t recommend deleting the blog, because that will break the redirection. Anyone visiting the old URLs, including search engines, will effectively be stranded and not find your new blog.
-
Ok – what happens with all of those non-email followers through wordpress.com – are they still notified of new posts?
-
No, the WordPress.com Reader only supports WordPress.com blogs, so they will not receive new posts.
