You have chosen a static front page instead of a blog front page. That would be okay, but you also have no sidebars and therefore no way for people to navigate to your posts. I’m sure there there somewhere, you just didn’t leave a bridge to where they are.
You can either:
1) Make the blog posts the front page instead of the About page or
2) Choose a theme or layout with sidebars and use the Recent Posts widget and Archives widget or
3) Use a Custom Menu and put a link to your Blog in that.

how do i put a slideshow as header
You can’t.
Modularity Lite is a theme with a front page slidehow http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/modularity-lite/
Many other themes have front page post sliders with featured images for featured posts > http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/post-slider/and what if i bought a theme that i am not going to use
Ask for a refund.

You can’t. It will be stripped out for security reasons. Why don’t you just use one of the themes here that has a large area you can use the slideshow shortcode in?
