What has happened to embed codes on Youtube?

I don’t seem to be able to copy embed codes from youtube and paste them onto my blog any more. I click on share, then on embed and the code appears highlighted. This is has always happened. I then click on copy and attempt to paste in wordpress and nothing appears. This would seem to be only a recent problem and have had no problems with this before.

Thanks for checking that — sorry it’s still not working for you!
Are you able to copy and paste other text in the post editor? It would help to know if the problem is specifically with embedding YouTube videos or if you’re having trouble pasting anything in the editor.
Also, are you creating the new post at https://wordpress.com/post/ or by going to your blog’s dashboard under Posts > Add New?

I am using my blog’s dashboard under posts>Add New.
I can copy and paste any text into posts.
I have just tried to copy an embed code from Twitter and I can’t past that onto the post either.

Thanks for those details. I haven’t been able to reproduce the problem you’re describing, but a little more information may help me figure out what’s going on:
1. Can you please confirm what browser (including the version number) you’re using? If you’re not sure, you can check that here: http://supportdetails.com/
2. Do you have any browser extensions installed? In Chrome, for example, you can check that here: chrome://extensions/
3. Are you trying to paste the code into the Visual editor or the Text editor? If you try the other editor, does it make a difference? We have more about those editors here: Editors
4. When you paste the code into the editor, do you use your mouse to right-click and paste or do you use a keyboard shortcut (such as Command-V on a Mac)?
5. Just to make sure I understand what’s going on, can you confirm that nothing at all is being pasted? (If the text is being pasted but then it disappears after you save or publish the post, please let me know.)

3. Visual editor. I have always used this successfully before.
I have just successfully pasted the code into the text editor and published.4. I use my trackpad and click – Mac user.
5. Nothing is being pasted at all. Nothing shows.

Thanks! I’m glad the text editor is working for you. Here’s another thing to try in the visual editor:
If you click right over where the cursor is in the editor, can you paste? Here’s what I mean: https://cloudup.com/cdVS2YCk1pV
Sometimes, if you click too far away from the cursor, you won’t get the Paste option. But clicking right over the cursor (or over other text in the editor) should give you that option.
If that still doesn’t work for you, can you make a screenshot of what you see when you click? You can upload screenshots to your Media Library under Media > Add New in your dashboard, or you can use an online service like Snaggy.
