  I thought I was creating a portfolio of my work rather than a blog. I do not want to have a blog.
  I really need to take a different route with using WordPress by having it be hosted on my firm’s website network.

  Depending on the theme you choose you can make your “blog” look more like a “real” web site – there are some themes that have full width Posts that might be more what you envision – there are over 200 themes you can choose from – Dashboard >> Appearance >> Themes
