What's included in premium plan?

I’m not sure I understand what is included in the Premimum Plan. Does it include hosting too? I see old videos on youtube, and I don’t know if things have changed. Could you please send me a list of what’s included?
    Thanks

  • WordPress.com does not charge for “hosting” in the way that other webhosts do. It is completely free to have a site on WordPress.com. There are upgrades that you can purchase, WordPress.com Premium for example, but those are not required. They just give you additional features not available with a free site.

    WordPress.com Premium includes:

    • A Free Domain
    • Custom Design
    • VideoPress
    • Space Upgrade
    • Ad-Free

For more info, you can refer to this page: http://store.wordpress.com/premium-upgrades/pro-bundle/

Despite the similar name, WordPress.com Premium doesn’t include any of the Premium themes available here:

    Premium Themes

Does that make sense? Please let me know if you have further questions.

Thanks, Josh, yes it does. I had kind of figuerd it out along the day but wasn’t sure.

Another question I’m not sure about: We’ve seen a theme we like that isn’t on WordPress, but are hesitating to buy it because we don’t know how we can upload it and use it. I’m struggling (but for the moment succeeding) with using WordPress through a local server rather than online. But is is possible to upload external themes to WordPress online? I imagine it must be with all the themes out there, but would appreciate it if you could let me know how.

    Thanks again

  • Themes can’t be uploaded to sites hosted on WordPress.com. They can only be uploaded to self-hosted blogs running on WordPress.org software. You can read more about the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org here:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

On WordPress.com, you can select from a variety of themes to change your blog’s appearance. You can read more about customizing the appearance and theme of your blog on WordPress.com here:

We offer over 300 themes, both free themes and premium themes created by leading theme companies. You can view all of our themes and filter them by specific criteria here:

Thanks a lot, Josh. I’m starting to figure it all out. I read on a forum somewhere that it is possible to change a wordpress.com domain to wordpress.org. If that is so, could you please tell me how? I think it’s the way I need to go.

    All the best,
    Matt

  • So there is probably some misunderstanding somewhere.

There is no way to make a ______.wordpress.com domain into a self-hosted WordPress domain. There are a couple different related options.

You can export your WordPress.com site and import it into a new self-hosted WordPress.org site using these instructions:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-to-wordpress-org

You can redirect people from your _______.wordpress.com domain to a new self-hosted domain using the Site Redirect upgrade:

    Site Redirect

And finally, if you have a custom domain, you can point it to your new webhost (for a self-hosted WordPress.org site) using these instructions:

    Change a Domain’s Name Servers

I’m not sure if any of those are exactly what you are looking for, but please let me know if you have further questions.
