When I log into WordPress admin page, my website disappears

  • Unknown's avatar

    My website is
    http://www.jonosshoestrings.com
When I go to this link and the wp-admin URL, I can edit it
(Username (email visible only to moderators and staff))

However, when I log into WordPress from wpadmin address (https://wordpress.com/wp-admin),
it says I do not have a site and should create one, and my username is janders182

Do I have duplicate accounts? How do I only log into my website WordPress?

    Thanks

    Jon

    Hi Jon,

Do I have duplicate accounts? How do I only log into my website WordPress?

jonosshoestrings.com is a self hosted WordPress.org site, not a WordPress.com site. There is more information about the differences in this guide:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

Jetpack connects your WordPress.org site to WordPress.com. This means you have two sets of login details:

    1. Login details for your WordPress.com account

    2. Login details for your site:

    http://www.jonosshoestrings.com/wp-admin/

If you are unable to remember the login details, please use the ‘Lost your password?’ in the link above.

Thanks a lot for your helpful reply Gemma.

    1. Another silly question, perhaps, but do I need a WordPress.com account if I have a WordPress.org site? All the editing is done on the latter, so what is the former for? I guess I logged into/created the .com one accidentally. The two now seem to have connected, however.

    2. When I try to activate the recommended features on my .org website, I get the error message ‘Recommended features failed to activate. Error: No route was found matching the URL and request method’. Yesterday was another error message about an unidentified nonce or something (sounds like a childish joke).

    3. Finally, should my .org login URL have the ‘Wor’ bit or just be http://www.jonosshoestrings.com/wp-login?

I used WordPress a few years ago for a blog without issue, but it was already set up and on my friend’s server (he sadly never explained anything about servers or cpanels to me, then shut his down suddenly. Thanks Ben). I’m now using bluehost which I’m beginning to regret..

    Hi Jon,

    but do I need a WordPress.com account if I have a WordPress.org site?

Jetpack enables you to manage your site using WordPress.com and gives you access to additional features. You can choose not to keep your WordPress.com account — it just means you will no longer have access to some of the Jetpack features.

I get the error message ‘Recommended features failed to activate. Error: No route was found matching the URL and request method’

It looks like your account isn’t connected to Jetpack at the moment. Try connecting again and if that doesn’t work, please contact Jetpack Support for help:

    https://jetpack.com/support/

    3. Finally, should my .org login URL have the ‘Wor’ bit or just be http://www.jonosshoestrings.com/wp-login?

You can login to your .org site directly using this URL:

    http://www.jonosshoestrings.com/wp-login.php

Once logged in, you can access the WP Admin dashboard here:
