When posting content, who owns the rights to that conten?

I am curious about the intellectual property rights of the user. Is it no longer mine when i post it. Do i have to buy a domain to own my content? Or does that not make a difference?

Your original content is always copyright you, effective the minute it’s uploaded (even if it’s only in Draft and not published). You do not need to do anything to make this happen. It’s guaranteed by law.
In the Terms of Service there’s one about granting WP.com the right to publish your work. That just means that you authorize them to go ahead and make it public on your blog when you hit Publish. It doesn’t give them ownership.
