Where are the Publicize options on the new post page?

While I appreciate that they are trying to streamline things (maybe making it more like Tumblr?), the Publicize options have disappeared from the right-hand side. So this means that the posts are automatically posting to Twitter / Facebook without a chance for me to edit the posts, add hashtags, etc. Can I get the old page back somehow?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m not aware of any changes to the Publicize page. Is it possible that you have changed how you are connecting to the internet and to WordPress.com?

    (1) How are are connecting to the internet and to WordPress.com?

I’m asking because the way you connect to the internet (mobile, satellite, DSL, dial-up) and to your blog, and how many proxy server jumps etc. it takes to connect can cause problems. There maybe be problems with your ISP and/or with the proxy servers. Also note that the main dashboard isn’t designed to work with touch devices through the tablet and smartphone browsers.

    (2) Exactly which browser and version of it are you using. If you don’t know click here to find out > http://whatsmyuseragent.com/
Note: If you are running IE9 in compatibility mode then be aware that it renders as IE7 and IE7 is not supported.

    (3) Have you tried?
clearing your browser cache and cookies > http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050
using the browser with all extensions or add-ons disabled
updating the browser to the latest stable version (not a buggy BETA browser version) http://browsehappy.com/
    using another browser

    (4) Are you logging in using the secure https:// log-in? see http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/

If staff have indeed changed this to make it more automated, I suggest that you do manual posts. It takes no more time than editing a manual post AND it is far, far more likely to show up on Facebook in your friends’ news feeds. FB automatically downgrades autoposted material.

    raincoaster, I think that’s a good idea.

timethief, I checked out those things, but it appears to be a new change that WordPress has introduced. If you click the “New Post” button on the menu at the top or just log straight in, it displays.

But you can still access the old posting screen if you go Dashboard > Posts > Add New. A bit convoluted, but I understand they may be trying to streamline things for newer users.

Never, ever use the New Post button on the admin bar. For one thing, it never connects with Autosave.

I never ever log-in on the WordPress.com home page not do I create posts there for the reason raincoaster shared and for other reasons too. I never ever use http://wordpress.com/#!/post/ on the main page of WordPress.com because it creates Asides and Asides are post formats. They don’t have Titles and can’t have Categories assigned to them.

Aside – These are brief snippets of text that aren’t quite whole blog posts. Useful for quick thoughts and anecdotes http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-formats/

You ought to be able to go here > Dashboard > All Posts > Posts and locate the post. If it’s not there then look in your Drafts. Edit the post and add your video to it and even change the post format to a Standard post format.

Standard – Your normal, average, everyday blog post. This is the default styling for your theme.

Oops! I copied and posted a sentence that I should have removed above. Ignore this sentence ” Edit the post and add your video to it and even change the post format to a Standard post format.” Instead simply edit the post to include what you want to include and change the format to “standard” from “aside”.
