If the post was created on the dashboard of your own blog at Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New then you ought to be able to recover a lost post or page from revisions if needs be.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-revisions/
See also if applicable > restoring from trash http://en.support.wordpress.com/trash/#restoring-from-trash(If you are referring to a Page then see here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/page-revisions/)
If you cannot locate a revision or restore from Trash the content has been lost and cannot be recovered.
I recommend:
- Always create your posts on the dashboard of your own blog at
Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New - Immediately after creating a post and entering a title click the save draft link. Thereafter, “click save draft” frequently.
- Always allow pages to fully load before clicking any other links.
- Never leave a post or page open for content creation or editing and walk away from it, or open another tab in the same blog and work on something else while it is still open. Save it properly and return to edit it later.
- Use an offline blog editor so you have backups on your own computer http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc/
- Always create your posts on the dashboard of your own blog at

Appreciate it & found it too. Even was able to edit, but sometimes it comes up WITH the edit, and sometimes not. even tho I thought I’d saved it. ALSO my photos are so huge in the margin as to be invisible & see no way to change that….

I don’t know which images you are referring to because I cannot see any. Have you embedded them into posts or pages?

Thank you @timethief for all your help!
@lidaniels-
As for this question:
Even was able to edit, but sometimes it comes up WITH the edit, and sometimes not. even tho I thought I’d saved it.
If you are logged into your WordPress.com account (that’s associated with this site) you will see the Edit, if you aren’t logged in you won’t be able to see it.
Let me know if you have any questions with this!

JUST THE TINIEST EDGE OF 2 PHOTOS OF ME CAN BE SEEN AT THE OUTER RIGHT MARGIN, ONE ON TOP OF THE OTHER. I honestly don’t remember what I did exactly, but I suppose I followed what appeared to be a way to insert a photo …. I should give it another try, but how?
I never consciously OKd publishing the blog, becasue I didn’t consider it finished, but it sounds as tho it did anyway?

@lidaneils-
I see what you are talking about :) Please note that that is the Custom Background image. Have you taken a look your theme’s (Writr) support page?
http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/writr/
It states:
With Writr, you can easily apply a background color or image by going to Appearance → Background. If you want your background image to cover the whole page and stay fixed, go to Customizer → Theme Options and tick “Full Page Background Image.”
It seems like you want to add a image of yourself that doesn’t take up the entire background? It looks like the Writr theme has an area for your Gravatar. If you set that up your Gravatar image will show up as seen here:
What I recommend doing is setting that up by going to http://en.gravatar.com/ with the image you chose for your background. Once that is set up, by default it will show your Gravatar image in this area:
Let me know if you have any questions with this!

Hi and thanks so much. But frankly, this is so complicated and so counter intuitive that i am just going to let it go I’ve lost all interet in doing this.
I was going to set up a website also, but I can safely assume that it will also be so annoyingly complicated. I regret having set up a domain, as I could have gotten a much cheaper one elsewhere.
Thanks anyway, for your personal help. Li
