Why are categories not getting properly updated for creating custom menu
-
Hi, I just updated the categories and created new categories & sub-categories in my blog in order to organize content in a manner that makes it easier to find.
However, when I try to update the menus, not all categories are getting updated with all the sub-categories I have created. My idea is to have a drop down menu on the top level menu, so that once people select a place (e.g. Australia), they should be able to see the sub-categories of post topics (e.g. Eat & drink, Things to do, Travel Tips, Stay, etc.)The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
What are some of the new categories and sub-categories that aren’t showing up? I’d be happy to take a closer look.
One thing to keep in mind is that the new categories may not appear until you have at least one published post in that category. So if the new categories don’t have any posts yet, try waiting until you’ve published at least one post and then add the new categories to your menu.
Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)

Thanks Rachel.
The sub-categories were showing up as standalone categories in the create menu tool. I just had to place them manually into the right section of the menu.
It’s strange, because the categories list under archives was updating correctly. -
Ah, yes, sorry for misunderstanding the problem! When you create custom menus, all of your categories are treated the same — it doesn’t automatically put sub-categories under their parent categories for you. However, you can adjust that manually to organize the menu however you’d like. We have more details about how custom menus work here: Custom Menus
