Why are my subsribers not receiving an email notification when a post is made?
-
I’m getting ready to promote my new website. First, I tested it with a few family members (including myself) by getting them to sign up as followers. Both the follow blog and confirmed subscription emails were received. However, I just made an addition to my static homepage (linked a new article that I wrote) and thought it would send out an email notice to me and my followers. I checked my spam/junk folder to make sure the message didn’t get caught in there. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You have an RSS Feed for posts and that’s what followers subscribe to. That is where the data is drawn from to be emailed and to be read of the Reader. There is no RSS Feed for pages. Pages are for static content that rarely if every changes.

http://support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/The front page of the blog by default will display your posts (not pages) in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top. The RSS feed for that page is http://patrickhempfing.wordpress.com/feed/
If you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page “Welcome“ for your site and a “Blog” page for posts. http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/
