Why are stats showing up for my visits?

  I haven’t published my site yet – just setting it up, but it shows a lot of visits from me testing the pages. Is there a way to turn this off?

  And when I publish, I’ll still make it private – can I eliminate my visits from stats? If not, this seems like it could really skew the numbers why isn’t there an easy way to eliminate my IP?

  Hi there, when your WPcom site is Private, it records only your visits and the visits of anyone you invite to view your site.

  There’s no way to reset this or eliminate your IP address from being counted.

  That’s really unfortunate – while it doesn’t make the visits useless it really diminishes the usefulness for me to see visits from me and Admins. This seems like one of the most basic functions this feature could have is to exclude an address that the Admin sets (not even asking for auto-detect when IPs change, just filtering ones we’d enter).

  Is there possibility wordpress will add that?

  Likely not here on WPcom or with jetpack stats on a WP site.

  However, the only site I see under this account you are posting from to the WPcom community forums is not hosted here on the WPcom platform and things here operate a little differently than hosting the WP software on 3rd party hosting like BlueHost, SiteGround and the like.   Ok thanks for this information. I’m helping setup a WordPress site hosted on wordpress.com so the question is related to that.

  By the way, about your reference to the site attached to my account makes me wonder – is the site setup for my account public information (in my profile?) I didn’t see an option to display or not display that so curious.

  Beyond that I’m ready to close this item and appreciate all your help.
