Why are tag pages no longer showing on the stats page?
-
It appears that people who view my tag pages no longer show up as hits on my stats page. They are viewing my web site content, so why is it not showing up as a hit or “view”? I used to see these on my stats pages, was this removed in a recent update? Will it be changed back in the future?

The front pages, category/tag/date/author archives, and searches are all examples of other views that only count towards total views. Please review this guide to learn more about Site Stats.

I understand that front page and archive page views do not show up as views for my actual post pages. Two months ago I saw something like “tag/consciousness” as the title of one of my pages that received a hit. So I could see that one of my tag archive pages received a view and it counted toward my view total for the day. This does not appear to be happening anymore. My W3Counter widget continues to pick up hits for tag archive pages, clearly showing that people are viewing a page like “tag/psychology” on my blog. However this same hit is not being counted at all on the WordPress dashboard. I know for a fact that these used to be counted and shown as hits on specific tag pages. Why is this no longer being counted and will it be fixed soon?

Are you referring to your WordPress.com blog? because you are mentioning a W3Counter widget, and I’m not seeing that on your blog. Currently the tag archives are only counted towards total views.
There are no restrictions if you setup a self-hosted WordPress.org blog instead of a WordPress.com blog, but there are some added responsibilities. We have hosting recommendations at the following link if you are interested.
