Why can't I inserting Hyperlinks and photos?

  Inserting photos and hyperlinks is not working. When I select the link symbol and add the url and check – open in new window, the next screen goes blank or back to the default post page.
  I’ve uploaded the photos I need in the media section, but the media logo doesn’t allow me to insert the photos in the blog.
