Why can’t I launch my blog without having to pay?

  I thought this was supposed to be free! I CHOSE THE FREE OPTION then I spent hours blogging and posting pics, then when I pressed ‘Launch’ it demands money from me?

  Hi there, I see the site plasticmask.wordpress.com is Public. Were you able to resolve this? There was an issue with launching free sites yesterday, but according to staff this has been remedied.
