Why can't I see a new user I have just created?

    I have created an account for a new contributor on my wordpress blog but when I go and view the users I do not see them, even after clicking on the “accept invite” and receiving an affirmation email that it was done.
    I need my pupils to be able to have access to a page on the blog so that they can upload their ThingLink projects – I want them all to access it through one account.
    Please help! Getting quite frantic…
