Why can't I upload media?
-
I am trying to uplaod a new episode of my podcast. I have tried on more than one computer and in both Chrome and Firefox, both with the flash uploader and the regular uploader. It gets stuck in “crunching” or it times out. I have been having this problem for over three days.
I have also tried force refreshing, clearing the cache, and adjusting my proxy settings.
The file is a 58Mb mp3, smaller than I’ve uploaded in the past.

Also, while simply navigating through pages on the dashboard, I’ve been getting timeout errors and “no data sent” errors a lot lately. Very frustrating.

Could you try and disable the proxy entirely? Also make sure you’re running the lastest browser version.
Two other things you could try out:
1: Disable browser extensions or add-ons
2. (temporarily) Disable any firewalls or security software

Tried several times (again) with no proxy and no firewall. I’m not running extensions or add-ons either. What’s the deal?
Is this on my end? Or on WP’s end?
One of the “time out” type of errors I get is (in Chrome) “Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data.”
Any other suggestions? This really sucks.

No luck with HTTPS. I have also tried other files to see if there was something wrong with the file. I can’t seem to upload anything.
This is really aggravating.

Also:
My uploads are stalled while WordPress is “crunching.” What does this mean: “crunching.” What is happening when WP “crunches” the file?
-
Crunching just means that we’re encoding it. It’s really only used on videos and images (to make multiple sizes). Though the step is briefly displayed, it’s skipped on all other files.
Do you have another MP3 that you could try to upload. I wonder if something may be wrong with just this file.
