why do i have 2 sites?

I am brand new to blogging and set up my first site today. However, it says I have 2 sites. One of them is at ‘.wordpress.com’ and another is ‘.home.blog’ I only intended to have ‘.home.blog’ as a site. Does it automatically set up two sites or did I do something wrong? Can I delete the wordpress.com site and still have the .home.blog site? I didn’t want to accidentally make it so I can’t have the .home.blog site when I delete the wordpress.com site. (Also, when I tried to delete it, it said it would be gone forever…did it just mean my content would, but that I could resign up for it at a later date if need be and it’s still available? Or is it unaccessible in the future?) Thanks!

No worries. There’s no issue with having multiple sites set up on the same account. To toggle between them, you just need to click on My Sites from the upper left corner of the dashboard screen.
Yes, you can delete the unwanted site. That’s a permanent thing, meaning we can’t restore it after 30 days have passed. If there’s any chance you want to use it, just hang on to it. You can hide it with privacy settings so other folks (including the search engines) can’t find it.
