Why do I have no access to my dashboard and blog?
-
I can log in. It acts as if I am a visitor to my own blog. It will say following, but no stat bar, or picture or administration bar. I can’t access my dashboard, comments, spam..none of that. I have cleared the cache and deleted cookies and rebooted my entire computer to no avail. It was working fine one minute, then after I approved a comment and answered it, I lost access. I would appreciate a quick resolution to this. Thank you.

Hi Rebecca,
This usually happens if you don’t have third party cookies enabled in your browser. You can check to see if your browser allows third party cookies by visiting this page: Preview Problems and Third Party Cookies
That page also has more information about enabling third party cookies, if you need. Please let me know if you have any questions about that, or if the problems persist even after you enable those cookies in your browser. :)

I accessed the link to check whether the third party cookies are enabled on my computer, and it says that I do have them enabled. Yet the problem persists, so what next?

Hi Rebecca,
Thanks for letting me know. Just to confirm, this is happening on your blog at rebeccavance.com, right?
Let’s try these steps to see where the problem is popping up:
1. First, if you need you can log in to your WordPress.com account here: https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php
2. Then, please try accessing your dashboard here: http://rebeccavancedotcom.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
If you aren’t able to access your dashboard, please let me know what kind of error you get when you visit that page.
3. If you can access it, go ahead and visit the front of your site here: http://rebeccavance.com/
When you visit your site, can you please make a screenshot of what you see? You can upload screenshots to your Media Library under Media > Add New in your dashboard, or you can use an online service like Snaggy. (That will help me see what’s happening on your end.)
Also, can you try these steps in another browser to see if they also happen there? If you need, you can download the latest version of another browser here: http://browsehappy.com/
Please let me know if you have any questions about this. :)

I guess I don’t understand how to take a screen shot. When I press Print Screen, nothing happens. So, I can’t send that. To let you know what I am seeing on the main screen, at the far left I see the WordPress logo, my blog name (Beckys Book Notes) and Following. That is all. I don’t see the administration panel. This is the same information I would see while visiting another blog that I follow. I can hover over the logo and get access to notifications and stats, but I can’t manage comments or anything else. I do use Chrome for my browser and have Windows 7.
-
Hi there,
For now, don’t worry about the screen shot. What happens if you visit your dashboard at this link: http://rebeccavancedotcom.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
Please let me know what you see on the screen when you go to that link. If you get an error message of some kind, please copy and paste it here for me. Thanks!
-
I don’t get any error message. It will take me to the dashboard and it will let me access everything from there. I guess I just have to take more steps now. Before I had this information on the side and across the top. I no longer have the panel across the top. Thanks for all of your help on this!

I can keep investigating this with you, if you’d like! I don’t want you to have to take extra steps if you don’t need to. Since you’re able to access your dashboard, it sounds like you are logged in just fine. It is likely just a setting in your browser that’s causing problems here.
Before we do anything else, can you try clearing your browser’s cache? Here are specific instructions for how to do that in Chrome: http://www.wikihow.com/Clear-Your-Browser%27s-Cache#Chrome_v10.2B
If that doesn’t resolve the problem, please open your browser’s cookie settings. Here are instructions for where to find those settings in Chrome: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95647?hl=en
Please make sure the “Block third-party cookies and site data” setting is unchecked. Then, click on the “Manage Exceptions” button and make sure that wordpress.com and rebeccavance.com are not blocked. You can click “Done” and close your settings when you’re done.
Please let me know if you continue to have trouble with this after taking those steps. I’ll be happy to keep troubleshooting this with you, if needed. :)
-
Thank you. I have gone through these steps as you have suggested. None is changed. I still have no access to my administration panel.
-
Hi there,
Thanks for trying out those steps. At this point, I’ll need a screenshot to better understand what’s happening here. Can you please go to your blog and make a screenshot of what you see there?
To make a screenshot, first please press the Print Screen button on your computer. Then, go to this link and press Control + V to paste the screenshot: http://snag.gy/
When your screenshot is done being uploaded to that page, please copy the link and paste it in a reply here.
Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)
-
Ok, here is the link for the screenshot. I hope this was successful. Thank you! http://snag.gy/U1iCz.jpg

Thanks! That screenshot really helps. :)
Can you please try making your browser window bigger? You can either maximize the browser window or drag the corner of the window to increase the size.
From what I see in your screenshot, it looks like you’ve made the browser window just small enough that it changes what you see in the admin bar at the top of the screen. (This is a feature that’s used to make WordPress.com work on mobile devices, but on a regular computer it’s best to use a slightly bigger browser window.)
If you’d rather keep your browser window smaller, you still have one other option for getting to your dashboard. You can scroll down to the “Meta” section in your sidebar. When you’re logged in, the first link in that section is called “Site Admin.” That link will also take you to your dashboard.
Please let me know if I can provide any further help with this. :)

Thanks! That did the trick! I at first didn’t see that because it appears full sized to me. I played around with minimizing and then maximizing it a few times, and now I have the panel back. Thanks so much for all of your help! :)
