Why do I have to log in twice to leave comments on other blogs?

  When I try to leave a comment on another WP blog that I follow or like a post, I get a prompt asking to log in. Fine. But then when I hit ‘post comment’, another prompt appears asking for the same information again. Very annoying. Is there anything I can do/am doing wrong here? Thanks

  Hi Matt,

  Usually when this happens, it’s because third-party cookies are disabled in your browser. Those cookies keep you logged in to your WordPress.com account when you visit different blogs.

  Can you please visit our Preview Problems and Third Party Cookies support page, and take a look at the “Checking your browser…” section there? That will tell you if you need to make any changes to your browser’s third-party cookies settings, and how to make those changes.

  If you have third-party cookies enabled and that’s still happening to you, please let me know! You can also include a link to a blog where this is happening to you, and I can take a closer look at the issue there.

  Hi Matt,

  Thanks for that link. This is a bit puzzling, though — I can’t reproduce the issue you described here.

  Do you happen to have any browser extensions installed in your browser? If so, can you try disabling them temporarily to see if that makes a difference when you comment? It looks like you’re using Chrome, so you can follow the instructions for disabling extensions in Chrome if you need.

  If that doesn’t make a difference for you, can you please make screenshots of your screen both times you are prompted to log in? That will help me understand what you’re seeing there. You can upload screenshots to your Media Library under Media > Add New in your dashboard, or you can use an online service like Snaggy.
