Why do people get an error message when they first go to our blog?
-
When a newcomer tries to go to our blog they get an error message that it is not DeluxDraperyBlog, but actually a wordpress site. We paid to have the premium account and really don’t want our readers getting gun shy that they are being directed to a bogus site.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Howdy,
Most likely, they’re trying to access https://deluxdraperyblog.com/ (notice the https at the beginning) instead of http://deluxdraperyblog.com/
You should only direct folks to http://deluxdraperyblog.com/ (without the s).
If you have any questions or need anything else, please let me know. Have a great weekend!

I can’t find anywhere in settings that will let me change to http://
We paid for the premium package which was not supposed to use the .wordpress.com url.I did not set this up as an https:// site.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Michele Shannon -
Hi Michele,
There is no setting to change as we wouldn’t want anyone to try using the address with a https—it is up to the users not to enter in the https://.
Your site is set to http:// , but the users who are seeing that error are either typing https or using a link that has that. It’s similar as if your users were mistyping the actual domain name.
Please let me know if you have any questions or need anything else.

Do you mind sharing where? If there’s some place we can better help our users take the same path, I’d like to fix it!
Thanks!

It started with our Hunter Douglas website. I have applied for the new domain, so that should be approved shortly. I think the https was a default, and I didn’t know any better :)
Thanks! -
