Why do photos show up in the new theme demos but not when I activate the theme?
-
There are lots of themes I’d like to try, and in the description/thumbnail image of the theme they show that photos are to appear along with the posts on the main page of your blog. However, when I live preview/activate the theme, none of my existing photos appear in their posts on the main page — only when you click on the specific link to the post. Why don’t the photos show up on the main page when the description of the theme (and thumbnail example) says they should? They do with some themes, but not with others.

Have you read the featured images and sticky posts sections of the support documentation? I’m asking because the most likely reasons your images do not appear in the preview mode are size and settings.
In themes that have featured posts featured image sizes must be the dimensions required by the theme. The featured images must be properly set http://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/#setting-a-featured-image and in most cases the posts must also be designated as sticky posts http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-visibility/#sticky-posts
