Why do visitors to my site see: “Login to your (WP) account or visit JENNIFER’S
-
Is this a form of advertising or do I have a setting I need to change to get rid of this message to my users?
-
Hi @jgross6381, could you send a link to the site you’re having trouble with? I checked both sites on this account and they don’t seem to be doing this.
-
This site: https://obriengrossfamilyrecipes.wordpress.com/
Is it possible to send you a screenshot of what they see?
-
Yes, would you please use https://snipboard.io to share a screenshot of what you’re referring to?
-
Hmmm… how are you getting to that screen? This is what you see when you first visit your site? Or is it something only visitors see? If so how are they getting to your site, are you sharing a link for them to click on?
I’ve checked on our end and can confirm that the site is public and online so anyone can visit. Here is what I see when I go to visit it
What if you have them try to visit this direct URL to the site? Are they able to see it that way? https://obriengrossfamilyrecipes.wordpress.com/
Thanks for the additional info!

Visitors see the message intermittently. The screenshot is from my son. I was happening before I bought the plan, I was wondering if it was WP advertising… ? Once they click on on “JENNIFER’S” they get into the site. My husband just tried it now, he was fine getting a few pages, then the message popped up when accessing the BBQ Baked Ribs:
https://wordpress.com/page/obriengrossfamilyrecipes.wordpress.com/379
It also happens to him going to this page:
https://wordpress.com/page/obriengrossfamilyrecipes.wordpress.com/247
.. :P
Yes, I send them the link/URL, sometimes of a page I think they will be most interested in, hoping they will browse ;).

The links you give are going to the backend, that’s why people must log in.
The link to share with people is https://obriengrossfamilyrecipes.wordpress.com/ -
Can I remove them from the ‘backend’? I don’t know what that means or how this happened. Even when visitors start on my homepage or URL you propose, they get the login screen when they try to open those two and perhaps other pages/recipes..
-
https://obriengrossfamilyrecipes.wordpress.com/ is the only correct link to share with your friends. DO NOT share https://wordpress.com/page/obriengrossfamilyrecipes.wordpress.com/… !
-
Can I remove them from the ‘backend’? I don’t know what that means
The links you shared are those found in your site’s dashboard (the “backend” of your site), which only you can access when you are logged in to your WordPress.com website.
To share a link to your site with friends and family, you need to share the public address (the “frontend”) of your site, which is https://obriengrossfamilyrecipes.wordpress.com/
To share a link to a specific post or page, first visit the public side of your site and copy it from your browser’s address bar. So the link to your BBQ Baked Ribs is https://obriengrossfamilyrecipes.wordpress.com/bbq-oven-baked-ribs/
Hope that helps.

Here’s a link to the Learn glossary for future reference:

Ahhh! Now I see the issue and can fix each page as needed. Thank you all for your patience and persevering with me!
ps. I now understand the term ‘backend’, it is not in the glossary.
Happy Easter!
