Why does my blog not appear the same way in edit as in live?

When I hit ‘Customize’ and my theme (Twenty Eleven) everything looks just as it should. However, when I look at the page on the web, it is missing all kinds of elements. I have cleared my chache (Windows Exlporer 11). I don’t get it!
Does it make sense that my blog url is rita.bloem.wordpress.com while the webaddress is ritabloem.com?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I checked your blog and it looks the same to me in the Customizer and when I look at the actual blog. Here’s what I see when I visit your blog: https://cloudup.com/cWA6klDCV6p
Is it looking different to you? If it is, can you make a screenshot of what you see when you visit your blog? You can upload screenshots to your Media Library under Media > Add New in your dashboard, or you can use an online service like Snaggy.
That will help me understand what you’re seeing on your end, so I can help you get it sorted out. :)

Assuming I will quickly get to what you see, can I have an excerpt of each blog post show instead of the full post?

Hi Rita,
Can you please try uploading the image directly to your blog’s media library? Images that are included in emails or as email attachments won’t appear in our support forums, so I didn’t get the screenshot you sent.

You can use the More Tag in your posts to show just an excerpt. All of the text before the more tag will appear on the front page of the blog, and visitors can click through to read the full post. Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)

Duh. I now get it – at least enough to keep trying to re-arrange my site.
I decided to have the blog first and foremost instead of a static page, and lost my way, but I have enough info now to keep working on it.
