Why does our page layout change with the size of the page?

    If I make our pages smaller (Ctrl + minus) their layout changes. The pictures and the text drop down the page, leaving the links on the left and a blank space to the right, This doesn’t happen on a Mac using Safari; it doesn’t happen on my desktop (Vista + IE 9); it does happen on my laptop (Windows8) in both Internet Explorer and Firefox; if I change screen resolution, it continues to happen. This isn’t the first time we’ve had trouble with page presentation in the Suburbia theme.
