Why does the blog seem to be private though it isn't private?

    Hi,

    I’ve recently changed my blog from private (‘I would like my site to be private, visible only to users I choose’) to public (this text is in Finnish, so I won’t write it here :D ). When I try to share a post in Facebook, the link to my blog is created in FB but instead of a picture/text from my blog, there is a text:

    ‘[my address] is marked privat by its owner. If you were invited to view this site, pleas log in below. Read more about privacy settings.’

    I cannot find anything in the settings that I could change to make this text go away. What’s the problem?

    Hi Susanna,

    That can happen when Facebook has an older version of your site cached (saved) on their end, from before you changed your blog to public. One way you can check that, and encourage Facebook to update everything on their end, is to look up your site in their debugger here:

    https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/

    If that doesn’t work, you may need to wait a bit longer for Facebook to update your site’s details on their end so everything appears correctly there. Please let me know if I can do anything more to help with that. :)
