Why doesn't my image show up in my post when I preview it?

I inserted an image in my post using the Add Media button. It shows properly in the post while in the editor, but when I click Preview, it shows only as a link and the image isn’t visible in my post.

Yes I do have third party cookies enabled. The preview works fine, in that the whole post is visible, there’s just a link (labeled with the image’s alt text) where the image should be. By the way, I’m using the Zoren theme and Standard format.

Hi Dave!
After looking into your account, I found that you did have a Draft post with an image attached to it. However, the image was deleted from from your Media > Library page which is why it is not showing up.
If this is not what you are talking about, please provide me more details and I’d be happy to take a further look!

Thanks for taking a look at it. I’ve created and deleted images a few times in order to try different experiments to get it to work. Just now, I did another save of the draft so everything would be current. There’s an image called testtypematrix.jpg in my media library, which is embedded in the post. In the editor, the image shows up right in the text. But when I click on Preview, it shows up as a link, using the alt text (Test type matrix). I haven’t tried publishing it to see what it would look like, because I assume it would be the same as the preview.

I just took a look into your site, and I’m still seeing a deleted image in the first Draft post when I go to Posts > All Posts.

As seen the image has been deleted from your library.

Thanks again for looking at it. So I took a look at the post and the link in the preview, and the URLs match the one you included. I clicked on Add Media in the editor, and my media library still shows the image, and the URL matches. As far as I can tell, it’s still there and doesn’t look deleted.
However, figuring that something is corrupted, I deleted the image from my post, and permanently deleted it from the media library. Both of those operations appeared to work as expected. I started over from the beginning, uploading the image, and then re-inserted it into the post. This time it shows up fine in the preview.
So it appears that image got into some corrupted state in the library. But I’m up and running now, and I appreciate your help. I’ll mark this thread resolved. Since I’m in Software QA myself, if it were me I’d try to come up with some tests that could lead to an image being in a corrupted state. Unfortunately, I don’t have a record of all the steps I took before that which led to it getting corrupted.
