Why don't the "update" and "save" functions no longer work?

Whenever I try to edit a post and use the update function, or write a post and use the save function, I get a strange little icon saying “beep, beep, beep”, then the update or save function start running and never complete the function. This has never happened before.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Update: This is a problem when I try to edit an existing post, or when I start a “new post” using the drop-down menu on the face of my blog. But everything works as it always did when I start a “new post” from the dashboard.

Actually the little icon says “beep beep boop”

I see that you chatted with another Happiness Engineer about these concerns, but I’d like to get a little more information about the issues you’ve described here. :)
Just to clarify, Automattic Inc. is the company behind WordPress.com, which is why you’re seeing that name when you visit WordPress.com (including the new post editor there).
You mentioned that when you click “Save” or “Update” the post never finishes saving. Can you let me know what browser (including the version number) you’re using when that happens? If you’re not sure, you can check that here: http://supportdetails.com/

I tried and failed to download Firefox 31.
Apparently I have the highest-level Firefox browser that is compatible with my Mac OS X 10.5.8 operating system.

I’m sorry that didn’t work for you. I’d recommend switching to another popular browser (such as Safari or Chrome) instead of using Firefox 16. That version of Firefox is old enough that it’s not being updated anymore and we can’t guarantee that all of the features at WordPress.com will work as expected with it. In addition, your computer may be vulnerable to security risks as a result. You can read more about that here:
