Why has my version of wordpress not been updated?

  I seem to have an old version of WordPress that has less tools in the editor and other places (e.g. I cannot delete a blog without losing the name forever, but my friends showed me clearly that this is possible though their accounts.)

  It’s a bit frustrating because I feel that I am missing out on useful features, especially in the editor.

  Please help?

  You have the same features as any WordPress.com blog, and all of the blogs here are updated at the same time.

  Is it possible that your friends have self-hosted WordPress.org blogs?

  You can tell from the very bottom of the Dashboards. “Thank you for creating with WordPress” will take you to either http://wordpress.com or http://wordpress.org depending on the type of WordPress in use.

  Thanks a lot, that was fast!

  I’ve just checked both of their blogs – one is self-hosted but the other is definitely hosted at wordpress.com ….

  As it happens, both of the friends’ blogs I referred to are Spanish (ie. they were stablished there – would this make some difference?

  No, language won’t make any difference.

  To clarify, if you delete any WordPress.com blog, it cannot be recovered and the name cannot be used again, there are several warning about this.

  Compared to the other WordPress.com blog, which features do you feel are missing from your WordPress.com blog?

  I was gonna drop a screenshot of my editor and then one of the others but I figure you know what you’re talking about and I really don’t. I must have been confused about which blog the guy was editing.
