Why haven't I been given the address I asked for
-
I just registered a domain name for $25. The name is my-little-eye.com (which was available)… however the domain name I have been given is mylittleeyedotcom.com. I tried to cancel the registration via dashboard and store but was unable to as the support centre is closed til the 6th. Why haven’t I got the domain name I requested? And why is the 24/7 contact centre closed?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Support will be closed until March 6th. The forums are open over the break.
If you require a refund, you can still request one directly from the Store section of your Blog’s Dashboard or the Store -> Domains section for domain-specific upgrades.Did try requesting a refund through your Dashboard > Store >Domains?

I’ve tried the store section of my Blogs Dashboard. It has no “Cancel or Refund”, button and tells me to contact support. The Store Domain section allows me to do nothing other than add a domain name or again tells me to “Please contact support if you wish to delete a registered domain.” I’m turning in circles here.

I’ve tagged this thread for staff attention. Hopefully they will respond soon and help you with this.

I am in the same boat with a sub domain and now have a blogdotsiobhancoulterdotcom.wordpress.com as my URL. I think we have the same problem but I haven’t paid the 99 for the year yet so suspect that I have not completed the full registration. Not keen to register this as a sub domain of a domain I don’t own. Any assistance on the dot instead of . would be good.

Hi Siobhan
If I get to the bottom of this, I’ll let you kow. So far I’m still unable to contact support even though it is now the 6th of March… the day they are supposed to be open again?! Not impressed with WordPress! -
I don’t see any transactions on either of your accounts. Did you receive a receipt from us?
-
No nothing. But I went through the process of entering all my credit card details and purchasing your $25 package. As far as I can tell, nothing went wrong with the transaction, other than discovering my blog address was not the one I requested… http://www.mylittleyedotcom.com instead of the requested http://www.my-little-eye.com!
-
It appears that your URL is neither of those, as neither of those resolve for me. Try registering the hyphenated one again, BUT don’t put “www” in; WordPress doesn’t use it, most of the web doesn’t use it anymore, and it will actively reduce the number of people who can view your blog. It may (probably not but who knows) be somehow interfering with this process.
First of course check your paypal and see if the $ for the first transaction is gone or still there.
-
sharlenepearce, yes, no transactions were made on your account, so you’ll need to try purchasing the domain again.
Your blog is actually http://mylittleeyedotcom.wordpress.com/ and it is currently free.

Great. Thanks. But this still begs the question… why didnt’ I get the address I registered? I registered my-little-eye.com, and for some reason ended us with a very ridiculous dotcom.com added to it.
-
I don’t have an answer for you and have flagged this thread fo Staff attention as the domain name you do wnat is avaialable. I’m thinking that maybe the hyphens (dashes) in the URL could be the issue.
-
No, you wound up with http://mylittleeyedotcom.wordpress.com/
The payment never went through, so no domain was registered.
