  You can, since that is your username.

  Try for it at https://wordpress.com/start/free/

  It doesn’t provide option to add a subdomain on .wordpress.com. I am running into similar issue.

  Depending on what option you select on the very first step, you might be seeing a free .blog subdomain instead, but those work exactly the same as free *.wordpress.com subdomains.

  If you absolutely must have a WordPress.com subdomain, make sure you don’t select the “Blog” option on the first step.
