Why is my dashboard still displays the .wordpress.com extension? like https://detachmentcorner.wordpress.com/wp-admin. Isn’t it supposed to be detachmentcorner.com/wp-admin since I bought my domain? Also, I’d like to place ads to my site and monetize it. Since I have my upgraded domain, how can I place ads? Thank you very much.

If you’ve mapped your domain, your dashboard will still appear at the underlying WordPress.com address. That’s entirely normal.
The only advertising allowed on WordPress.com is the WordPress.com WordAds program. There is no user initiated, 3rd party advertising allowed no matter what the upgrade and your site is still bound by the WordPress.com Terms of Service.
Same Rules Apply – The Domain Mapping Upgrade does not enable the permission to use advertising, any kind of prohibited code, or upload additional themes or plugins. With the upgrade, your blog will still be hosted here at WordPress.com, which means that you will not have FTP access to your files and you will still be required abide by our Terms of Service.
