Why is the premium upgrade button not working?

  I’m trying to upgrade to the premium account. The button links to: http://store.wordpress.com/plans/premium/?ref=newdash-footer# which produces no action or results. Please advise.

  Please register a blog first, and buy upgrades for it after. You cannot buy upgrades if you don’t have a WordPress.com blog, for obvious reasons.

  Thank you for your response, but it’s not even remotely obvious.

  I created a free account, without any initial requirement to create a blog. I’d like to create my first blog with my own domain name. Logically, I should be able to upgrade my account, not an individual blog, since all the “Premium” call to actions on the WordPress site indicate that is the case. Nowhere does it say I have to have a preexisting blog.

  I’m pointing this out because it is not clear and even if it was clear, there shouldn’t be a giant call to action that results in no action whatsoever.

  You need to register a wordpress.com blog first in order to domain map from it to a domain URL just as raincoaster told you above.

  You must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard and purchase upgrades at > Store > My Upgrades
  Your billing history will be at Dashboard > Store > Billing History
  Your options for payment are found here http://en.support.wordpress.com/payment/

  Your content stays exactly where it is. All that changes is the URLs and your visitors are seamlessly redirected from the original .wordpress.com URLs to the same content under the new domain URLs.

  In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from and the domain name you desire must be available for purchase, or you must already own the domain URL.
