Why won't a slideshow appear in a post for a viewer on a private blog?

Why does a user invited to a private blog as a “Viewer” or “Contributor” have access to the blog’s Dashboard (and, apparently, Admin functions) — while only seeing the blog’s header, not the slideshow that’s on the only post currently on the site?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Will you please provide details such as screenshots uploaded into your Media Library .

while only seeing the blog’s header, not the slideshow that’s on the only post currently on the site?

Which browser and version it was being used please?

The slideshow is made up of original photos, all JPEG format, uploaded to the Media Library. Browser is Safari, version 5, on Mac.

As administrator, I use the same browser/platform as the viewer I’ve invited to see the slideshow. The slideshow appears on my screen, but not on the invited viewer’s screen. The viewer can see the blog page/post header, but not the slideshow.

The viewer has also cleared the browser history and cache with no success. In another attempt at resolution, I removed this “member” of the private blog and sent a new invitation. Still no success.

I’m sorry this is happeneing to you and have flagged this thread for Staff intervention.

  • Both the blog and the post are set as Private.

Private posts can only be viewed by the post’s author. Since the entire blog is private, there’s no reason to make the post private too, unless you want to hide it from all of your readers too.

Thank you both for the help with this puzzle.

I’m new to doing “private” blogs/sites, so I thought I needed to use “private” anywhere it was an option — for super double-secret protection, of course…

Making the post public within the private blog solved the problem.
Three cheers and ice cream all around!
