Why won't my domain add itself to my blog?
-
Hi, I have just purchased a new domain for my blog and I have corrected my nameservers, but my domain won’t add itself.
The store>upgrades page states that ‘DNS needs to be upgraded’, but I have already followed all of the steps provided by wordpress. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, are you referring to the domain you mapped on August 19, ending in .com.au? (I won’t put the domain here for privacy reasons.) It looks like you mapped this domain to cdpblogdotnet.wordpress.com, but is it a domain you’d previously registered through another registrar? According to my research that domain is still available to register.
In order for a domain to be mapped, you need to actually own the domain, whether you register it through WordPress.com or another registrar. The mapping upgrade points the domain to your WordPress.com site, but it doesn’t actually register the domain itself.
Just let me know if you already registered that domain somewhere. If you didn’t, I’ll remove the existing mapping record and credit your account so you can try again with another domain.

Hi, no I haven’t registered that domain before. I thought that the upgrade would also purchase the domain!
I’d like to keep the upgrade if possible, where would I need to go and what do I need to do to own the domain and link it to the site?

Since you only purchased domain mapping instead of a domain registration, the domain registration wasn’t included.
You’ll first need to register the domain through a registrar that handles .com.au domains. (WordPress.com only registers .com, .org, .net, .me, and .co.) After that, follow our instructions for mapping an existing domain and you should be good to go.
I’ve removed the existing domain mapping upgrade and issued a refund so you can try again.
Just let me know if you need further help!
