Widget code restore trouble

  The widget code has been altered on 8/30/2018.
  Virtual machine that runs Worpress website has been restored to 8/27/2018 state, yet the code is still in the altered state. What may be the reason (does the code live outside the VM) or is there another reason?
  How do we restore the pre 8/30/2018 code?

  What widget code are you speaking of?

  If you’re running a virtual machine, that means you’re working with a local installation of the open source WordPress software. That is something completely different from WordPress.com, and we cannot help with that version of WordPress here.
