widget display area not showing to customize / edit widgets

When i access Appearance>Widgets…
The right side that’s supposed to display ‘Header , footer etc.’ where you can drop and modifty widgets its not loading / appearing.
Only the columns on the left hand side appear, the boxes that you would drop into the right side category.
Has anyone had this issue and know how to solve it?
I’m not tech savy and don’t want to mess with code…. appreciate your help.
I tried clearing my cache/ different browser… did not work.

The issue is on the back end when I go to appearance and try to edit it.
