Will I keep my wordpress. com address if I purchase a plan?

I have a basic WordPress plan and I would like to upgrade it. However, I advertised my site as wordpress. com and I am wandering if that address will still exist after I purchase a plan and change the domain.

The short answer is “yes”. Anyone entering your ________.wordpress.com URL (i.e. yourgroovysite.wordpress.com )into their browser will be taken to your WordPress.com site.
The longer answer is that you can choose to set up a custom domain (i.e. yourgroovysite.com) when you purchase a WordPress.com plan. You do not have to set up a custom domain, but it is one of the plan features. The good news is that, even if you do choose to change to a custom domain, your old standard _______.wordpress.com domain will still send people to the correct place.
