Will Importing my WordPress blog overwrite my existing posts?

  I have an existing blog on wordpress.com with over 400 posts. I recently designed a separate website with a wordpress.org installation on GoDaddy, and have been writing my more recent blogs on there (27 so far). I want to transfer (export/import) all my blogs from wordpress.com to the new blog on GoDaddy, but I’m worried that when I do so the old posts will overwrite the new ones. Can anybody help?

  Hi there,

  We have information about moving your blog from WordPress.com to WordPress.org here: Moving a Blog

  When you import your posts to your self-hosted WordPress.org blog it should not overwrite your existing content there, but you may want to create an export file for that content to back it up just in case. Please note that the support staff here at WordPress.com can’t help with self-hosted WordPress.org sites, including imports from WordPress.com sites, as we don’t have access to the files and other information on those sites.
