Will old wordpress.com url visitors get redirected to a .com upgrade?

  If I upgrade a wordpress.com to a .com domain will visitors who try to search my wordpress.com URL get redirected to the new .com domain? or will they experience dead links?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  There will be no dead links. Buying a custom domain is like putting another door on the house; the old door still works, and it’s still the same house, you can just come at it two ways.
