Word Press publishing issue

    We are on version 5.85.

A few months ago something happened, and folders were recreated for Word Press. Now when a user publishes content, the files being placed on the server cannot be read. Users get “Server error – 500 – internal server error” We have to edit the permissions on the uploaded file so the public can view it. Permissions on the folder appear to not be inherited by the new file.
Any settings somewhere where that can be corrected?

When I try to review the permissions on the file, the security settings on permissions cannot be viewed, nor can I see current owner. When I take ownership of the file the permissions viewed are:
    local administrators – full control
    System – full control
    IUSR- full control

If I add, say “domain users” I can view the URL without server 500 error.

  • Hey there, I can’t speak to what could be going on with an older version of WordPress, and would recommend updating if you can. But these should be your correct permissions:
