  Is Word Press Reader the only way my readers can see the posts on my blog? I just tested it and from what I see, they get an email, open it, read a word press formatted article (that takes away from the way it actually looks on the website), but they’d have to log in to the reader to get the full effect. I’ve seen other blogs I’m subscribed to and I don’t have to do that. I can just click ‘like’ if I like something directly. It seems like going through extra steps is more of a deterrent to get someone to like my post.

  No. Folks can follow your blog through their own Reader. With this option your new posts display for them there. Another option that they can choose would be to follow your blog by their email account. With that option they’d receive new post notifications in their email. Folks can also just visit the blog in their browser and see the new posts there whenever they want to check in.
