Word text editor has no editing option when highlighted.

  Hello,
  When I Select the text editor to make a few changes in it, like the color of text or font of text, the menu on the left is greyed out.
  It happens in all the pages.
  Could you help?
  I really wish I could attach a screenshot if it. But can provide on request.
