WordPress blog email confirmation not working

  I created a blog for my husband. He invited colleagues to subscribe to his blog. Two have now successfully subscribed, but three others reported that they signed up by submitting their email addresses. They then received emails to confirm their subscription, but when they clicked the link, nothing happened. Please help.
