  My new blog, The Generalist/Specialist, was launched today. When I went on settings, I wanted to see if it was possible to change around the name to The General Specialist. I changed the header, and the url to http://www.thegeneralspecialist.com. After doing that, I tried to check out the website, but either a different website comes up (probably the one with the actual ‘thegeneralspecialist.com’ domain), or when I finally got my website, it’s a simple website (just text), and all my plug-ins and my theme is gone. Also, I can’t log into the WordPress admin of my website, to change back the URL and name of the website… I don’t know what to do…

  The Generalist/Specialist, was launched today.

  Please provide the address (URL) of the site you are referring to. Is it a WordPress.com site, because this forum is for issues regarding WP.com accounts and websites only.

  I changed the header, and the url to http://www.thegeneralspecialist.com.

  Please clarify, the site http://www.thegeneralspecialist.com is or is not your site? The Change a Blog Address support page describes how to change the address of a WordPress.com website. Did you follow the instructions in that support page? There is no other way to change the URL.

  My domain name: thegeneralistspecialist.com
  Original website URL: thegeneralistspecialist.com (WordPress)
  Original website title: The Generalist Specialist

  I wanted to change the title of my website to “The General Specialist”. However, I accidentally changed the website URL via WordPress dashboard to: thegeneralspecialist.com (I don’t know if it’s WordPress). Now every time I try to log into wp-admin of the thegeneralistspecialist.com, it switches to thegeneralspecialist.com and my username/password doesn’t work. Also, when I do get on thegeneralistspecialist.com website (not admin login), my theme and plug-in is gone.

  I went on the link, and the first step says: “Go to My Site → Domains and click on your .wordpress.com address. There, click on Edit Site Address, and you’ll be taken to your WP Admin dashboard.”
  There is no “Domains” part when I go on “My Site”.

  Thank you for that additional information. The site http://thegeneralistspecialist.com/ is not a WordPress.com. That is, it is a “self-hosted” site, rather than a fully hosted WP.com site. That means that this isn’t the proper forum for addressing questions regarding the account or the site. This forum is solely for issues regarding WordPress.com accounts and websites,

  WordPress.com and WordPress.org are different versions of WordPress, with separate support forums. See the WordPress.com and WordPress.org support page.

  If http://thegeneralistspecialist.com/ is a self-hosted WordPress.org site, then please resubmit your request to the WordPress.org support forums. If you haven’t already done so, you can register here: https://wordpress.org/support/register.php, to use the WordPress.org support forums.
