wordpress.com installation problem
-
WordPress.com (desktop) starts up with page ‘hey’ want a job? and not my sites page. I’ve tried reinstalling but get the same result.

Can you expand on “not installing correctly”? Are you seeing an error during installation? If so, what is the error, and at which point in the process does it occur?
Based on your initial post it sounds like it installed correctly, but it’s not starting up correctly.

Yes, that’s correct. The program opens with the page “Oh hai”, doesn’t ask for logon credentials nor give access to My Sites.

Hi there,
Can you please grab a screenshot and share it here so we can better understand what’s going on? You can use a tool like https://snipboard.io/ to quickly grab a screenshot.

Just replied to Alicia with the following:
I have Windows 10 Home 1909 (32 bit) OS 18363.752
WordPress Version 5 was fine (I’ve reverted to 3.8 because that’s the only download I’d saved).
I tried deleting 5.0.1 and reinstalling but got the same result. Installing on my laptop was the same.
I think the program is opening hey.html from resourcesapppublic_desktopHow do I share a screenshot here?

Ah, thank you. Are you able to use the “close” option to get past that?
We’ve got an issue filed here:
https://github.com/Automattic/wp-desktop/issues/783 -
Close will close the Oh hai window but clicking on the WordPress icon on the task bar and it’s back again. Can’t get past it to my sites. Menus are greyed out.
Can you send me a link to version 5.0.0 as this was ok? -
You can download version 5.0.0 from here:
https://github.com/Automattic/wp-desktop/releases/tag/v5.0.0
You’ll want the file,
WordPress.com-Setup-5.0.0.exe -
