WordPress.com Website Inaccessible
-
Hi, the domain we need help with is sunwiseconstructions.wordpress.com.
Until November 2018 we had a Premium account but decided not to renew so the website reverted back to the free one. We also had had a redirect from where we originally purchased the domain name. A few weeks ago we purchased a hosting plan with the same company as our domain is purchased with and installed WordPress on there. We know you are WordPress.com and that this new installation would be WordPress.org.
Until today we could still access our WordPress.com account, but cannot any longer and entering the website above results in an error message that “the domain requested can not be served at this time”.
Can you please help us gain access back to our account or explain why it might have been deleted?

Hi –
The site has not been deleted, and is still available at the free address of sunwiseconstructions.wordpress.com.
You are actively signed in to the account and using it to post here.
If any recent changes were made to the name servers they can take a little while to start working. Do you know when the name servers on sunwiseconstructions.com were updated to
ns-1.ezyreg.com
ns-2.ezyreg.com -
Hi Liz, thanks for responding.
Yes, I did post from our sunwiseconstructions WordPress.com account and I can still log in. But where there were 20 pages and a couple of hundred media items two days ago, there is now nothing that I can see. This account, with the address sunwiseconstructions.wordpress.com, was opened 7 months before sunwiseconstructions.com was pointed to it and it’s been a few weeks since the redirect was dropped, but only yesterday that the content disappeared.
If you can see content at sunwiseconstructions.wordpress.com that is good news. But then am wondering why I get an error message when I type in the address directly or see an empty account when I log into WordPress.com.
In the Account Settings it says the Primary Site is sunwiseconstructions.com but the Web Address is http://sunwiseconstructions.wordpress.com. When I click View Site through the WordPress.com account it goes to the homepage for sunwiseconstructions.com I quickly threw up last night.
Our WordPress.com Premium plan expired early December 2018. We began a cPanel hosting plan with NetRegistry (where the redirect came from) on sunwiseconstructions.com on Jan 28, 2019. WordPress was installed through the Installatron on the same day, which is when the name servers would have been added. When I installed the WordPress application on NetRegistry and linked sunwiseconstructions.com, the content in the WordPress.com account carried over without doing an export or import, which was a surprise.
I am confusing myself now, so sorry if the information I’m providing is confusing too! But, essentially there is no content in our WordPress.com account that I can see, and I get an error message for sunwiseconstructions.wordpress.com no matter what device I use, and after clearing all history, caches, cookies, etc!
Don’t mind being informed that I’ve made a mistake, or a bunch of them, but would really like to be able to access the content again!
Thanks.

Hi there,
Until November 2018 we had a Premium account
You did not have a Premium account on that site. You had a Business Plan. This is an important distinction, because you also had plugins installed on that site. This changes how a WordPress.com site works, and among other things disables the free address so it cannot be used directly.
It appears that you then simply let the plan and domain mapping expire, rather than contacting us to properly downgrade you. This means the domain was never properly disconnected from the site, nor was the free address restored.
It likely still worked because the domain was still pointed to us, but now you’ve pointed the domain away from us to your new host, meaning the WordPress.com site no longer has a public address where it can be reached.
We should still be able to revert the site for you to a regular free site at this time, but to do that it has to be connected to your domain. Please change the domain’s name servers back to WordPress.com’s and let us know once you’ve done that. Then we can attempt to properly downgrade the site.
Once that’s done and the site loads at the free address again, we’ll let you know so you can change the name servers back to the new host.

Ah, thank you Kokkieh, that makes a lot more sense and is a very helpful answer. That solution sounds simple enough and something I would have readily done earlier today. However since the last posting, in need of a working website, I’ve just redone it and prefer not to mess with the redirects again. Luckily it’s only 20 pages!
Since there is no content in our WordPress.com account now, would you recommend just having it deleted altogether? Would we be able to utilise the free account in the future in any case?
Thanks for you help.

Since there is no content in our WordPress.com account now,
Your content is still safe and sound in your account. It just cannot be accessed because there’s no domain connected to it. But it turns our I might be able to properly downgrade your site without the domain connected. I’m working on it now, and will let you know once I’m done.

Okay, we were able to revert your site, and it’s now accessible, along with all your content, at the free address, sunwiseconstructions.wordpress.com
Please let me know if I can help with anything else.
