WordPress dashboard interface
-
Hi. I’m REALLY having issues with your dashboard on wordpress.com. I paid for the upgrade to allow me to customize my theme, remove ads etc… and the bloody dashboard works only HALF the time. When i do mange to update the CSS or add a widget or whatever, the next time I visit the site the styles are all changed and when I open my CSS the styles I added are gone and there are styles I DIND’T ADD. Sometimes I’ll click a link on the dashboard nav and NOTHING HAPPENS.
I thought wordpress was supposed to be easy. Now I’m not a novice. I can code, but I don’t need a fancy site or fancy functionality. I just want something simple that allows me to edit anywhere on the fly so I don’t want to go premium and host the site on my own servers so…
WHY ISN’T THIS EASY????
So frustrating. Please help!
FYI, this happens across browsers. IE, Firefox, Chrome… I’ve tried them all. SO BUGGY!
I’m this close to ditching wordpress going somewhere else.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
I’m sorry you’re having trouble with the dashboard. I’d be happy to help with that — let’s just take a look at the issues you mentioned:
When i do mange to update the CSS or add a widget or whatever, the next time I visit the site the styles are all changed and when I open my CSS the styles I added are gone and there are styles I DIND’T ADD.
When you add CSS in the customizer (Appearance > Customize > CSS section), please make sure to click the “Save” button when you’re done. You’ll see a live preview of your CSS changes when you’re working in the customizer, but those changes won’t be activated and reflected on your site unless you save them.
You can also review your site’s CSS history by looking at the CSS Revisions section here:
https://meltingplastic.wordpress.com/wp-admin/themes.php?page=editcss
Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns about your CSS changes or other parts of the dashboard that aren’t being saved. (If you can give examples of specific CSS, widgets, or other changes that weren’t saved, that really helps!)
Sometimes I’ll click a link on the dashboard nav and NOTHING HAPPENS.
Can you give me an example of a link that doesn’t work for you?
Also, do you have any script blockers in your browser? Sometimes blocking certain Javascript sources can cause problems in the dashboard.
Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. :)

I hit save when I update my CSS which is why I am surprised to see my changes missing.
No script blockers. Even if there were it wouldn’t explain why in the span of 10 minutes it goes from functioning to non functioning.

Hi there,
Can you give me some examples of specific changes that aren’t being saved, or links that aren’t working in your dashboard? That information will help me troubleshoot this further.

I had made a chnage to the H4 tags a few days agao. They dissapeared and I had to make the edit again.
Dashboard links that don’t work at times. Add media. Appearance. settings. Most of them really.
They are extremely buggy. Are these menus tailored to the themes?

Hi there,
It sounds like there might be an issue on your computer causing problems with the WordPress.com dashboard. The dashboard isn’t theme-specific, so there’s likely something bigger going on here.
You mentioned that you already tried multiple browsers. Can you let me know what version of each browser you’ve tried?
Also, can you try opening an incognito window in Chrome and see if the problems you described continue there?
Finally, can you try temporarily disabling any firewall/security software on your computer and try again?
Please let me know if any of those steps helps resolve these issues. If you continue to have trouble, let me know and we can keep troubleshooting this. :)
