WordPress does not save changes
-
Hi there! I’m having problems with WordPress today. I’m trying to make some changes (I change things, press update), everything looks like it’s been corrected, but when I open my blog in a new window changes do not appear. I have experienced simmilar problems in the past and was contacted by customer support team members saying that something was wrong with WordPress then, is something wrong with it again? I mean, I’m wasting time trying to change things, which I have already changed and saved the changes.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

WordPress.com sells custom design upgrades. They allow us to “preview” change that do not actually display on the blog unless we purchase the upgrade.
If you have not purchased the custom design upgrade note that no changes you try out aside from those such as Custom Background, Custom Header, etc. which are stated on the theme description pages in the features column (right hand side) will be visible to visitors.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/editing-css/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/custom-fonts/You do not need to load the design tools unless you have the Custom Design upgrade. All of these functions can be accessed from your dashboard – without loading the custom design tools – no upgrade required.
Appearance > Header
Appearance > Background
Appearance > Theme Options (applicable only to some themes)
Settings > Reading (set a static front page)
Site Title and Tagline > Settings > GeneralIf you are using the preview mode for the Custom Design upgrade some of the settings in that mode will save but they won’t show up on the front end unless you purchase the upgrade.
To go back to the free options, go to Appearance → Themes → Customize → Colors and click the “exit the preview” link in yellow at the top of the panel on the right.

I don’t need to upgrade to be able to do the basic changes like : link an image to a media file. I make all required changes, chose ‘media file’ , update the preview then update again. After that everything looks like it’s been updated – correct. Images are connected to their media file, but as soon as i open my blog in a new window – the changes are not there. I have done it all in the past and it worked. So i assume something is wrong with wordpress again just as it happened once in the past. Last time a member of customer support team got back to me. But i guess i’ve just repeated myself :))

WordPress have saved some of thew changes that i made. For example – I created a new page to add a new project. I experimented moving this page around… and finally placed it where I want it to be. And when I check my blog in a new window – the new page is exactly where i want it to be. But when I try to link images on this page to their media files – they look like they have been adjusted and linked to their media files, but when i open my blog in a new window, by some reason the images again are connected to custom URL but not the media files.
So some changes get saved by wordpress, some don’t. If something was wrong with my computer or browser, non of the changes would be saved. As I said before – exactly the same thing happened in the past (not only to me, but with nearly all of my course when we were working on our blogs at the same time) and after a loooong conversation the customer support team member got back to me and said that it was wordpress problem. Which wax fixed. And non of us who experienced this problem then had any troubles making changes on our blogs afterwards.
Who should I contact with this problem? As I don’t want to go through a million of things when I know it is exactly the same problem as last time. -

Provided you did not create the post in the new Beep Beep Boop editor where it’s saved only on your browser, and is not auto-saved to the servers for your blog I can help you with this.
If the post was created on the dashboard of your own blog at Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New then you ought to be able to recover a lost post or page from revisions if needs be.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-revisions/
See also if applicable > restoring from trash http://en.support.wordpress.com/trash/#restoring-from-trash(If you are referring to a Page then see here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/page-revisions/)
I recommend:
1. Always create your posts on the dashboard of your own blog at
2. Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New
3. Immediately after creating a post and entering a title click the save draft link. Thereafter, “click save draft” frequently.
4. Always allow pages to fully load before clicking any other links.
5. Never leave a post or page open for content creation or editing and walk away from it, or open another tab in the same blog and work on something else while it is still open. Save it properly and return to edit it later.
6. Use an offline blog editor so you have backups on your own computer http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc/If you cannot locate a revision or restore from Trash then the content has been lost and cannot be recovered.

It is not Dashboard – Post. It is Dashboard – Pages. Dot sure if it matters, but just to clarify. Sent from my iPhone

Hi there,
Can you please give me a link to a page where your changes weren’t saved? Also, can you please tell me the exact steps you took on that specific page to make those changes? That will help me investigate this for you.
-
Hi!
This is the link I see, when i am on any page of my blog http://jekaterinaskeneva.wordpress.com/
The page I’m working on is Gallery – in the menu.I need to add more images to this page and I want people to be able to click on the image and see the enlarged version of it.
To add images i go to Dashboard – Pages – Gallery – Add media – Chose an image – make sure it’s linked to media file, press Insert into a page – then once i see the image on the page – press Update. Once page has been updated I open this page in a new window (to be able to see the blog as any other blog visitor would) click on the images , that I uploaded to the page – to check if they are linked to the right media file. And some of the images are linked to the wrong file. Though I checked them 100 times from my dashboard. SO I go back to dashboard, check all the images one by one again and some of them by some reason are linked to custom URL – even though I made sure I linked them to media file. Don’t get me wrong, these are not the first images I uploaded to this blog, so I know how to upload images and link them to the media files.
Another problem I experienced this time – wordpress changes the colour of SOME images, even though all images were done using the same technique, software and saved as jpegs and in my file on my computer or any othem computers I worked with or printers… – all look the same. Once uploaded into wordpress – some look very very different. SO I had to delete them, open them in Paint – save them again and upload them once againwithout correcting colour or anything – just “open – save as…” . And this way they looked as they should. It never happened before.
-
For example – image number 4 on this page is now not linked to its media file – but I did link it to the media file. The problem is – once I correct this image (correct it through the dashboard) – other images on the page will get messed up! This is really strange.
-
Thanks for those details. I just checked all the images on that page and they are all linked to media files. Can you please clear your browser’s cache and check to see if that fixes it for you?
If you notice any errors with those images and media files after that, please let me know.
-
I have been deleteng and uploading images one by one. I have just checked them from my other computer and ipad – they are not all connected to media files even though i did connect them.
-
Number 5 is wrong and more images (of appartment for example) and as soon as i correct them again – others go wrong. Uploading inages to a oage should take no longer than 20 minutes, i’ve spent 2 days trying to figure out what’s going on and website support team is not very helpful since i get 1 reply in 24 hours.

Hi there,
I just checked the 5th image on the page, and I see what you mean. It is linked to this custom URL:
Can you please try correcting just that image and let me know if it changes any others on the page?
It’s a bit tricky since there are so many images on that page, but I’m hoping that if we focus on one at a time it will help me understand what’s going wrong here.
-
I have corrected that image and almost all apartment images are messed up now.
It is the same with this page too (it might be easier for you to investigate this one as there are less images) : http://jekaterinaskeneva.wordpress.com/final-major-project-new/ I have a few posters there – all were linked to their media files. However when i try to click on some of them – for example n4 – it apears that it’s linked to media file of n5. I check n5 – it’s ok. Then i go and link n4 to its media file through dashboard, update, update the page…. Check it – n4 now is linked to n4’s media file. BUT n5 is ALSO linked to n4’s media file and i did not change anything about this image! It’s a nightmare honestly. It is not my computer’s fault as I have used ipad, I have used UNI computers, I have used my NEW computer and the computer i usually work on. Can anybody help please?
