WordPress Domain

Hello, I need help here. I am paying for a domain called Chicagolashes.com thru wordpress. It does not expire until JUly 2014. Someone else is using the domain thru go daddy. How can this be possible? How do I fix this situation. This is for my personal blog and I am paying for it. Please help.

chicagolashes.com is hosted by GoDaddy.com and was purchased form Godaddy. Although Chicagolashes.com has been registered, it is not using WordPress.com nameservers. It looks like Chicagolashes.com has expired. For more information on what your options are, please see this document. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/

Hi, thank you for writing me back. I thought I had it on auto-renewal. I’m a little confused because it is registered with my Word Press. In fact, I’m still receiving a bill for it . Is there anyway I can fix this problem or that’s it…the other person now owns the domain and I can do nothing?

    Thank you for he help.

Is it possible to stop the hosting of the domain on wordpress so that at least it can’t be seen online?

If the domain has been sold to someone else then you are out of luck. I’ll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

I have to say that I’m pretty upset about this. I never received any kind of email from wordpress, advising me it was time to renew the domain. Now another person in the same city as I live in…owns the domain…and the domain is the name of our business. I’d like to know who I can complain to at WordPress about this?

This thread is tagged for Staff as I said above. Staff work through all forum threads tagged for their attention and through all email support tickets in order of datestamps and timestamps – first posted first served, as would be expected.

How long it takes to clear the threads and support tickets depends on how many Happiness Engineers are working on them at any given point in time. It also depends on how complex the issues in each thread and ticket are are.

Don’t bump your thread by posting into it again because it’s not in your best interest to post to it after it has been tagged for Staff help. Don’t create a new thread or send an email for support either. Doing those things simply moves the date and time stamps forward and it takes longer to get help.

    Hi there,

I see that a different WordPress.com user on the site (not your username chicagofm4u) owns a domain mapping upgrade for Chicagolashes.com. Could you please reply here or contact us directly while logged in to that account? I can then discuss the details of the domain with you.

If you’re not sure what account purchased that upgrade, you can check by going to Store > My Upgrades in the dashboard and looking for “Purchased by” under the domain name there.

    Hi Rachelmcr:
I logged into WP. I followed options you provided. There is no “purchased by” under the upgrades tab. I’m a little confused. I know who purchased the domain already. I am just curious how it could have been available …if I am paying for the domain thru wordpress?

I’m sorry for the confusion. As timethief mentioned, the domain itself is no longer registered at WordPress.com. Domain mapping is a separate upgrade that you can read more about here: Map an Existing Domain

I’d be happy to discuss the details of this domain and the blog’s upgrades with the user who owns those upgrades, but I won’t be able to give out any specific details about the upgrades and purchases without hearing from that user first.
